This D.C. Field trip was the best art trip I've ever been on! First of all, the art I saw was incredible, including the works I had already seen before. Seeing the same paintings I had previously seen let me notice things I hadn't before, especially Thomas Cole's work in the NGA. My favorite museum of all time is the Hirshhorn and I was thrilled to see all of the new art installations they had. I revisited my favorites from last year and also explored other parts of the gallery I didn't usually frequent as much. I loved having the freedom to go to wherever I liked because it allowed me to enjoy my experience more thoroughly.
Some of my favorite works I saw on the trip were Thomas Cole's set of four paintings about life, like I mentioned before, and the works that we studied in class such as that of George Bellows. It's so cool seeing a painting we've talked about in person. Besides art, my group and I went to the park and a guy helped us feed the squirrels. That was the first time I've ever touched a squirrel and I hope it won't be my last. Overall, I had loads of fun and I can't wait to go on another trip! I'm super excited to go again next year to see what new art will be on display in the galleries.
