In Lauren DiCioccio's series "Sewnnews", she embroiders images found in The New York Times on muslin which she then wraps around the newspaper so the original image is barely visible. One of my favorite things about DiCioccio's work is her use of line to create textures in the images that were not present beforehand. Seeing how line is used in different mediums such as string emphasizes how important line quality is. These works would not be as interesting if not for the mark DiCioccio has presented in her pieces. Another beautiful thing about this series is the exaggeration of color. Typically, newspapers are relatively bland even if their images are printed in color. DiCioccio brings more attention to the not incredibly interesting pictures that are sometimes overlooked. I love everything about this series.
